Me About Me - Interior Designer
I am an interior designer, based in the West Country, just outside the ancient mediaeval city of Wells in Somerset, working on interior design projects in Bath, Bristol, Wells and London.

My working background is twenty-five years in marketing (Ecco & Columbia Sportswear), retail and retail design (as one half of the founding partnership of Shoon).

Responsibility for the restoration and conversion of a neglected old building in the centre of Bath, and another similar one in Marylebone High Street, London, as well as the restoration of Dinder House near Wells, a most beautiful Georgian house mentioned by Pevsner, all contributed to my late career change two years ago.

Taking a year out to complete the Inchbald School of Design’s Architectural Interior Design diploma course confirmed my strong belief that creating interiors is not just about choosing colours, window and floor coverings, and furniture. It is about using a space well, creating a good flow-through and a feeling of ease within it. Listening to the building, as well as the clients.  In fact, getting to know clients and sussing out what they want, even though sometimes they don’t know themselves what that might be, is one of the best parts of my job. I care deeply about each project. My way of working should ensure that when a project is finished, the owners feel totally at home there. It will be their space, and not mine!
